5 Dishes to Taste in Mexico

Tacos, tacos, and more tacos…That may be one of the most well-known definitions of Mexican food. And although they are delicious, our gastronomy is far wider than that.   1. Mole

A bit of mythic with lots of delicious. This 20+ ingredient rusty sauce/paste –generally served over poultry, and in few cases pork- will captivate your senses immediately. Although there are different kinds of mole, all varying in texture, ingredients, and spiciness, you will never be wrong by picking it from the food menu.

  1. Enchiladas

Good for meal, great for dinner. A lightly fried chicken or cheese tacos bathed in either spicy green tomato and chili, or red tomato and chili sauce.

  1. Chile en Nogada

Mildly spicy, and full of flavours and textures. This is a seasonal product that appears in the menus from August to the first half of September, and consists of A mildly spicy poblano chili stuffed with picadillo –minced meat, aromatic herbs, fruits, and spices-, bathed in a cream and nutmeg sauce, and topped with pomegranate… A delicacy, and a full dinner on its own.

  1. Pozole

A must and one of the main components of a Mexican celebration feast. An ancestral recipe of hominy corn soup stewed for hours with chicken, pork or veggies, which makes the corn soft and fully imbues the broth with the meat and the condiment’s flavour. Usually topped with fresh shredded lettuce, radish, onion, oregano, and chilli powder, at your own taste.

  1. Cochinita Pibil

A typical dish from Yucatan, prepare your palate to surrender to the citric and spicy flavour of the soft pulled pork meat, garnished with red onion and habanero sauce if you are brave enough.
