Concerns Over Travel Safety in Mexico… Let’s be Real

Ongoing attacks from the media concerning travel safety in Mexico are unfair.  Last year alone,  Cancun/Riviera Maya welcomed over 3 million visitors. To define the safety of an entire destination on a select few incidents is not right.

Sure, there are parts of Mexico that I would not recommend you travel to.  However, there are also many other parts of the world that I would not recommend that you travel to either. In fact, the tourist areas of Mexico that typically receive poor press are actually destinations that are statistically safe.

While I cannot guarantee that you will be 100% safe while traveling in Mexico, that advice also applies to any destination you travel to. It also applies to the city you live in. It’s all about keeping everything in perspective.

Of course there are always ways to minimize your risk when travelling, which starts by using a qualified travel agent

Time moves by way too quickly and life is meant to be lived and enjoyed.  I leave the final word to travel soothsayer Mark Twain who captures it beautifully;

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
