EK BALAM: The city of Ek Balam dates back more than a thousand years and was one of the main capitals of the Mayan world. Founded around 300 BC by a figure named Ek Balam, hence its name, its principal ruler, Ukit Kan Lek Tok, brought it to its splendor, commissioning buildings with murals and facades with impressive details that endure to this day, such as those in his tomb in the main building.
